“Before the pilot project, the San Alberto municipal wastewater treatment system reduced biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5) by 29%. After the implementation of bioremediation, it reduced it by 48%.
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) were reduced by 23%. After the project, the TSS reduction amounted to 79%.
Regarding the Sedimentable Solids parameter, there was no reduction noted before the pilot project and such solids accumulated around the outlet area of the treatment system.
A 95% reduction in Sedimentable Solids was detected with the implementation of bioremediation system.
For fecal coliforms and total coliforms, reduction before the project was at 85% and with the implementation of bioremediation, it was reduced by 96%.”

It can be concluded that the water quality has been maintained as per IWK effluent standard, without aeration but using a combined treatment of bio-catalyst and installation of EBD at the perimeter of oxidation pond. With the installation of EBD, the operation of aeration can be reduced by 35% during the 6-month long POC evaluation. At the conclusion of POC trail, as much as 28% of energy bill has been reduced. This reduction of aeration time is expected to be further reduced after the POC period when the EBD system is fully remediating the wastewater. Thus, will result in a very significant reduction of energy bill to the STP operator.

It is further concluded that the EBD is very effective for long term solution for sewage wastewater treatment. Besides remediating the effluent quality, its installation can help reduce the energy bill for the STP operator subsequently.

The Florida International University, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering sampled the contents of an opened Environmental Balancing Device; “materials sampled are not hazardous, Toxic, or pose no threat to the environment when installed in either soil or water matrixes.”

"It has been found that the emissions produced in all the lagoons of both GHG and ammonia are significantly below the reference values (MAPA), so that when comparing them with these reference values, reductions of over 95% are achieved in most of the cases. In addition to the reduction of emissions into the atmosphere, the reduction in odors is also notable, especially related to ammonia, which is verified in the results obtained.”
